“The
health of any society, the happiness of the people, their prosperity, and their
peace all find common roots in the teaching of children in the home.
“Our most important and powerful assignments are
in the family. They're important because the family has the opportunity at the start
of a child's life to place feet firmly on the path home.
“Parents
have the sacred responsibility to help children to act and to seek learning by faith.
A child is never too young to take part in this pattern of learning.
“Teach
each precious boy or girl that he or she is a child that God created in His image
with a sacred purpose and potential.
“Of
all the help we can give these young people, the greatest would be to let them feel
our confidence that they are on the path home to God, that they can make it. And
we do that best by going with them. Because the path is steep and sometimes rocky,
they will at times feel discouraged and even stumble. They may at times become confused
about their destination and wander after less eternally important goals. The best
counsel for us to give young people is that they can only arrive back to Heavenly
Father as they are guided and corrected by the Spirit of God.”.
The family can bring us much happiness, and much sorrow. There is much to learn and grow from in a family. I'm grateful for my family, and the experiences of happiness and joy it can bring to me as I have learned to love and grow with them.
